November Trimmings

This week I paid a visit to the award winning Brooks & Brooks salon in Holborn. The salon provides the warmth and intimacy of your hometown salon with a super-charged dose of styling know-how and impressive on trend credentials. The Salon was down a gorgeous avenue near Holborn, the street had a magical character about it, it reminded me of something out of Harry Potter. The whole process from start to finish was executed with the highest level of professionalism and I was pleasantly surprised.

The salon had a cool retro interior, the walls were covered in vintage frames and the room had a wonderful scent to it which I noticed came from their own branded candles! I was looked after by a woman called Kayleigh, who had the most wonderful energy about her. Kayleigh was a fountain of knowledge and I learned so many new tips and tricks from her, having had some bad experiences in the past with my hair I was extremely lucky to fall into the hands of Kayleigh who advised me on the best products to help me improve the condition of my hair. I left the salon with a real sense of achievement, I walked away with a handful of knowledge, a few new additions to my hair care regime and a more positive energy, I was extremely happy with the service received and will definitely be returning to the salon!

Don’t forget, you can find me in all these places too!

3 Things You Need In Your Life

Having worked in Space NK when I was younger I have built up a great knowledge of products in the skincare world. I think as you get older its a trial and error game while you try to get to know your skin type and what it likes and what it doesn't. They say your hair changes every 7 years, and to be be honest I believe your skin does too. I always love trying new products out to see if 'they do what they say they do on the tin'.

Cleanse, tone, moisturise repeat. I have always stuck by this unwritten law of beauty, and to be honest it has never let me down.

Cleanser- Eve Lom £42

At the moment I cleanse my skin every day with Eve Lom Balm Cleanser (as seen in vogue). It comes with a cloth which is useful, it has multiple oils in it which is great for dry skin, and extremely soothing, especially with the Winter months coming up.  I also find oil based cleansers to be the best because they take off makeup the best, mascara is always an ache to get off, but not with this cleanser!

Toner- Nars Toner £23

I never really use to see the point in toners if I'm honest but after speaking to beauty experts/Make-Up Artists over the years and reading beauty articles I have finally come to the realisation that a toner is definitely a crucial member of the team when it comes to skincare, so don't brush it under the rug! It contains a gentle exfoliator and has hydrating properties within it which my skin loves.

Moisturiser- Chantecaille Flower Harmonising Cream £88
This Beauty is my god send. I discovered Chantecaille when I was younger, my Mum has always used Chantecaille so I grew up around it but could never afford it. Now I work full time it is a luxury to be able to use their products, it also reminds me of my Mum. The cream should really say 'Magic' on the jar, because it is truly amazing. It reduces redness, it nourishes and hydrates skin while locking in moisture and can be used as a night cream. I simply cannot live without it. I also love using there Bamboo and Hibiscus Exfoliator once a week.

St Tropez Gradual Tan Body Wash- does it really work?

I was reading the latest beauty edition of 'Style Magazine' and came across an advertisement for this St Tropez 'body wash' and I have to say I was instantly infatuated with the idea of have a body wash that can gradually tan you over time?! What girl doesn't love a bit of a tan? Especially during the Summer months. St Tropez has been my bread and butter for years now, I have veered off the beaten path to other brands for that desired glow but none have ever come close to St Tropez. The gradual tan they do is not only moisturising but nourishing at the same time and of course after a weeks use, you really start to see the results. So off I went to boots and of course there was a deal on 'buy one get one half price' so I bought the new body wash and my gradual tan, because of course you'd assume they go hand in hand right? correct. The two products really do marry each other, and although the wash takes a while before you see results it really enhances the gradual moisturiser. So how do you use it? Its simple, exfoliate at the start of the week once, then lather yourself in the product once wet, wait 3 minutes and rinse. Now, you might be wondering what can you do in 3 minutes, I usually put a hair or face mask so that I am doing something productive while I wait for the tan to activate. The bottle advises you to 'pat yourself dry' to save you wiping away any product which will start to be gradually activating now, slap on your gradual tan moisturiser and your good to go. You should start to see results in a week, so my answer to your question is- yes it does really work!

Ready Set Glow! - Wish list

So as Summer creeps in, Ive started to collate a few cult products that I feel would slot nicely into my beauty routine.  The art of make-up can only be perfected (in my eyes) with true skin preparation, have you ever noticed the difference when you cleanse, tone and moisturise before applying primer/foundation to your skin - dreamy. So first up..

Magnitone-
The only thing I can describe this as, is that its a toothbrush for your face. I use this by cleansing my face first with warm water, and then adding my cleanser onto my face and then slowly working the Magnitone around my face, the device uses pulsations there are 2 settings one for deep cleaning which I use and one for sensitive mode which is good and makes the product versatile. The device  I use is the the 'Lucid' Magnitone which is made by Pixie Lott. The devise is advertised to improve your skin in 7 days giving you softer, clearer, brighter skin and to be honest I couldn't agree more, my skin loves it. Its easy, quick and effective and it only retails at £69.99 which is extremely reasonable. Another reason why I love the Magnitone is that I can use it in the shower in the morning and its wireless so I can travel it!

If you haven't checked out Illamasqua already- go now. I was introduced to the brand by my lovely friend who is a make-up artist. We were wondering around the bottom floor of Selfridges in London when I suddenly became a kid in a candy store after discovering the brand. It just so happened that day that I was stalking Millie Mac and wanted to buy some products to make me 'glow'. I was recommended this Sculpting Powder, and I was blown away. There are two sections, one for creating shadows and one for highlighting the cheek bones. I like to try before I buy, which is exactly what I did and it was an instant purchase. I think this will be a permanent product in my make-up bag going forward, I can't live without it!

Estee Lauder hands down has the best eye make-up remover. I have to be honest, my least favourite part about make up is having to remove it, this product makes it quick and easy. I discovered this when I was about 14 and my friends mum let us use hers to take our make-up off whenever we had a sleep over! It removes long wearing make-up and leaves your skin feeling amazing. It contains Aloe Vera which helps calms and soothes the skin, leaving it soft and supple.

Nars and me have had a long loyal relationship, since my days at working in Space NK. This Illuminator is the dream. The best thing about this product is that is soo versatile, you can mix it into your foundation to give yourself that glow for summer or you can use it as a cheek bone highlighter, OR you can even use it on your collar bones/shoulders when you go to festivals.
